The Vice Consul at Yunnanfu (Ringwalt) to the Secretary of State
No. 186
Yunnanfu, April 9, 1936.
[Received May 18.]
[Received May 18.]
Sir: I have the honor to enclose copies of this Consulate’s Despatch No. 162, dated April 9, 1936,70 reporting on the latest invasion of Yunnan by the communists under Hsiao K’o and Ho Lung. Although they passed only thirty-five miles to the north of Yunnanfu, and although there is at the present time an indecisive engagement in progress shortly to the northwest of here, it is believed that this city is in no danger. American residents of exposed outlying areas have all been safely evacuated.
Respectfully yours,
Arthur R.
