57. Following telegram has been received from Yunnanfu:
“February 10, 11 a.m. Red Army reached Tating on the 5th and Pichieh on the 8th, crossing the border into Yunnan the following day. [Page 505] The local authorities are deeply concerned over the safety of Chaotung. Doctor and Mrs. Tucker, American citizens resident at Chaotung, up to the present time have not heeded my telegram urging evacuation.
Repeated to Nanking.”
