108. Reference fourth paragraph Department’s telegram No. 78, November 5, 6 p.m.,29 I am pleased to report that the Chilean Government has acceded to the Embassy’s representations relative to interest payments and that the American depositors will now receive approximately 61 cents on the dollar as against 58 cents contemplated in the original offer and as against only 38 cents or less previously obtainable. Arrangements for prompt repayment are being completed and the Embassy will send appropriate notification to depositors within a few days.
