Please urgently impress upon Carbajal the folly of resistance. He should not take counsel of the military men who by supporting Huerta’s programme made themselves responsible for existing conditions. Those who have been guilty of conduct which might lead to their punishment should leave the country; others are not likely to suffer. It is of the highest importance that Carbajal should reach an agreement with Carranza immediately. Delay simply multiplies the dangers.
