It is impossible for the arms and ammunition committee of the American colony organisation to secure sufficient arms and ammunition for their purposes. They have formally requested me to ascertain from our Government whether 500 rifles, with necessary ammunition, can be sold, loaned or given to the organization, and, if sold, at what price. Are there not some Krag-Jorgensens out of use at San Antonio? The governor of the Federal District is well disposed.
