A telegram from consul at Chihuahua via El Paso, dated February 29, states Americans at Velardena, besieged since 23d, had a fight with rebels on 27th, driving them off, but that the need of immediate protection or escort to Torreón is imperative.
Immediately and most urgently represent to Mexican Government that the needs of Americans at Velardena must be given preference and that an adequate force be sent at once to their relief.
