225. Editorial Note
Between February 18 and 22, the First Committee of the General Assembly held ten meetings to consider the Cyprus item. During the course of the discussion, four draft resolutions submitted by Greece, the United Kingdom, and Panama were considered by the Committee. No vote was taken on any of the resolutions. On February 22, India introduced a resolution (1013 XI) that was approved by a plenary session of the General Assembly on February 26, by a vote of 76 to 0. The resolution noted that the General Assembly hoped that a “peaceful, democratic and just solution” would be found to the problem of Cyprus. It also expressed the hope that negotiations would be continued toward this end.
