227. Editorial Note
In an effort to improve coordination of intelligence collection in the field, Secretary of State Dulles on June 23, 1955, instructed 71 diplomatic posts on domestic and field procedures for acquiring intelligence and requested those posts to report on their current handling of intelligence collection coordination. The Secretary suggested that missions with USIA and FOA staffs could include representatives of those agencies in the collection activities.
