The Ambassador in Korea (Muccio) to the Secretary of State
954. During courtesy visit this morning Chao Yu-lin, Chinese Ambassador, stated Generalissimo expects come Korea hold conversations with President Rhee on Pacific Pact and other mutual problems but arrival date not fixed.
Embassy informed by Korean and Chinese sources that Shin Syuk-woo, brother-in-law [of] Korean Prime Minister, appointed Korean Ambassador [to] China and expects leave for Canton shortly. Shin formerly associated with Korean Provisional Government [in] China and has recently been head Political and Economic Research Society, a nascent political organization.
