[Received 5:35 p.m.]
50 Poles. President Raczkiewicz has agreed to relieve Sosnkowski of his position as Successor-designate to the President (my 45, May 2211). When this decision will take effect, however, is still uncertain as it has not yet been possible to decide who will be designated for the position. Sosnkowski will retain his position as Commander-in-Chief.
[Schoenfeld]
- Not printed; in this telegram the Chargé had reported on disagreements among the Poles in London concerning the continuance in office of General Sosnkowski, and General Marjan Kukiel, the Minister of Defence, against whom opposition had arisen (860C.01/722).↩
