Information has come to the British Government indicating that one or possibly more of the French ships referred to in the Department’s telegram No. 535 to Kuibyshev may arrive soon at the Dardanelles. Please make every attempt to obtain the views of the Soviet Government regarding the questions raised in the above-mentioned telegram at the earliest possible moment and inform both Ankara and Department.
