174. My March 28, 11 a.m. to Tientsin,68 American Radio Service. I have today informed my British colleague that Nichols has been informed of the Department’s position as indicated in the first sentence of paragraph 3 of the Department’s 47, March 26, 4 p.m., to Peiping and that Nichols said he was unwilling to have his station closed and that he was not ready to dispose of it.
Repeated to Peiping and Tientsin. Peiping please air mail code text to Tokyo.
