My No. 632, May 7, 5 p.m. Threatened walk out of Chinese staff of customs was averted following statement reportedly made by the Commissioner of Customs to the staff indicating that he is still following the instructions of the National Government. Commissioner [Page 709] is also said to have urged the staff to remain at their posts. Chinese staff all on duty today.
