The news of Chiang Kai Shek’s release, first report of which reached here yesterday evening,95 has been received with striking manifestations of popular joy and relief.

- I have received a telegram from the Kansu Provincial Government which states that Kansu is peaceful and quiet, order is being preserved as usual, all Americans at Lanchow and other points are safe and the Provincial Government has issued orders for their protection. This telegram was sent from Lanchow at 1:20 p.m., December 24th and received at Hankow at 2:15 p.m. yesterday.

- Peterson, American missionary in Pingliang, eastern Kansu has telegraphed that all Kansu Scandinavian Alliance Missionaries are going to Lunghsien, Shensi, the first party leaving today. His telegram was sent yesterday afternoon at 5 and arrived here via Sian this morning.
