334. Reference Canton’s despatch to the Legation No. 32 [31], May 28, 1935 (copy sent direct to the Department)50 concerning temporary arrangement for stamping deeds at Canton. In view of reservations made by Consulate General, Legation perceives no objection to form of lease enclosed [in] that despatch and requests authorization to instruct Canton that there would appear to be no objection to Americans accepting such documents provided they do so voluntarily.51
