52. The Soviet Embassy has confirmed the truth and accuracy of the Rengo translation of the Foreign Office statement concerning the initialing of documents relative to the sale of the Soviet rights in the Chinese Eastern Railway to “Manchukuo”. The Soviet Embassy predicted that the formal signing would take place on March 22 or 23 and stated that the whole agreement would then be published.
The spokesman of the Foreign Office has assured the Associated Press representative that no specific mention of recognition of “Manchukuo” by the U. S. S. R. occurs in any of the documents initialed yesterday.
