890. My 873, October 9, noon. Following from American Consul at Harbin:
“October 15, 4 p.m. Reliably reported that Lahasusu at confluence Sungari and Amur captured on the 13th by Soviet forces after artillery bombardment, bombing from planes and naval engagement. Three or four Chinese gunboats sunk and about five hundred sailors drowned. Chinese claim three Russian gunboats sunk.”
