96. Legation’s 85, March 7, noon.28 On 10th I again addressed Foreign Office stating receipt of confirmation of murder which now appeared indubitable. I renewed request use every effort apprehend and try guilty parties speediest possible manner, also requested in view of deep concern American Government I receive earliest possible statement of steps taken by Chinese Government.
