The Secretary of State to the Chargé in Peru (Sterling)
53. Chilean Chargé d’Affaires has called Department’s attention to the fact that the Arbitral Protocol, recently signed in Washington between Chile and Peru, provides for ratification thereof, the ratifications to be exchanged in Washington, but that no such provision is made with respect to Complementary Act. He stated that his Government does not attach great importance to the matter but desires to know the views of the Peruvian Government as to whether ratification of the Complementary Act is necessary or not. Ascertain attitude of Peruvian Government and cable reply.
