Your August 23, 9 p.m. The President will be pleased to render any assistance in his power in securing a conference between the First Chief Carranza and Zapata. You may say that this Government is ready to do all it can in every legitimate way to advance the welfare of the people of Mexico and will be pleased to have the First Chief consult freely and fully about any matter in which he thinks assistance can be rendered.
