Department is in receipt of a telegram from American Consul at Vera Cruz stating that 1,500 Americans are still in Mexico City, many of whom are desirous of leaving for Vera Cruz, but he understands the train which left Mexico City April 28 was the last opportunity for them to leave. Please investigate and urge upon appropriate authorities the importance of providing facilities for these Americans to leave Mexico City without delay. Kindly telegraph present situation.
