Chihuahua, June 3, 1912—noon.
Residence of William H. Craft sacked by squad of rebels last night in defiant disregard of my repeated representations. Fifty cases of powder, heretofore forcibly taken, not yet returned. Later shipment 102 cases short. Protests from this office receive no consideration. Few Americans have left. Desirable first to have concerted action by the various industries. It seems now prudent to secure this because of rebels’ obstinate disregard of all warnings and absence of any kind of guaranty. General sacking of commercial houses expected if rebel cause grows desperate.
