Sir: I have the honor to transmit herewith copies of correspondence between Rear-Admiral C. H. Davis, U. S. N., and the governor of Jamaica, in which the governor expresses the profound gratitude of the people of Jamaica for the services rendered by Rear-Admiral Davis and the officers and men under his command in Kingston at the time of the recent earthquake and subsequent conflagration.
