Sir: I have the honor to transmit herewith copies of correspondence between Rear-Admiral C. H. Davis, U. S. N., and the governor [Page 566] of Jamaica, in which the governor expresses the profound gratitude of the people of Jamaica for the services rendered by Rear-Admiral Davis and the officers and men under his command in Kingston at the time of the recent earthquake and subsequent conflagration.
