Sir: Referring to my No. 407, of July 27, 1892,
in relation to the claim of the Hydrographic Commission of the Amazon, I
have the honor to transmit for your information a reply to my note
(accompanied with a translation) from the Peruvian foreign office.

Mr. Chargé d’Affaires: I have again
forwarded to the marine and treasury offices the contents of your
esteemed note of the 27th ultimo, to which I have the honor to
reply, and I have strongly asked for a reply regarding the matter
you mention of the Hydrographic Commission of the Amazon claim, to
which end I have repeated the contents of the official notes
directed by this office to the said departments on the 20th of
August and the 2d of October, 1891, and the 5th of April of the
present year.
I hope soon to receive the information repeatedly asked for, in order
to enable me to give you an answer.
