Sir: I have the honor to report that as the regular session of Congress opens to-morrow (the 28th instant), I have placed a note in the hands of his excellency Señor Larrabrue y Unanne, minister of foreign [Page 1051] relations here, in reference to the long-pending claim of citizens of the United States, upon the Government of Peru, known as the Hydro-graphic Commission of the Amazon, as per my inclosed communication.

Mr. Neill to Señor Larrabrue.

Mr. Minister: I would respectfully call the attention of your excellency to the various notes from this legation as to the character of the claim known as the Hydro-graphic Commission of the Amazon.

I would earnestly request your excellency to have this claim again presented before the honorable Congress of Peru during the present session for its early consideration.

I express the hope that some action will soon be taken to facilitate the early and final settlement of this long-pending claim of citizens of the United States upon the Government of Peru.
