Mr. Fish to Sir Edward Thornton.

Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of yesterday’s date, in which you are pleased to state, in answer to the inquiry of this Department, that the whole of Labrador outside of the province of Quebec, is under the jurisdiction and government of the colony of Newfoundland, and is actually included in and forms a part of that colony.
