No. 361.
Mr. Settle to Mr. Fish,

No. 17.]

Sir: Since my last dispatch, No. 16, the only event that has occurred here possessing political importance was the meeting of the electoral colleges on the 17th instant. As each candidate was supported by a distinct college, no result was arrived at that might have been considered definitive, and the decision as to the legality of the proceedings will be made by the congress of July next.

Mr. Pardo, one of the presidential candidates, was chosen as an elector, and also as a deputy from Lima to congress.

I am, &c,

THOMAS SETTLE.
