SUBJECT: Thai SGU Program, FY 1974
The memorandum of May 10 from the Secretary of Defense on this subject has been reviewed. In light of the considerations raised therein, the plan to maintain 17 battalions during the first half of Fiscal Year 1974 and 10 battalions in the second half should be implemented using the [text not declassified]. Action to withdraw the Thai SGUs from Laos should not be taken until further advised.
