111. Editorial Note
On the morning of March 15, 1967, Prime Minister Chung Il-kwon met with Secretary of State Rusk in the Secretary’s Conference Room and discussed Korean economic relations with Vietnam and with the United States, Korean relations with Indonesia, fulfillment of the agreement between the Republic of Korea and the United States arising from Korea’s 1966 decision to dispatch additional troops to Vietnam, and the pacification program in Vietnam. Memoranda of their conversations, background materials, briefing papers, and similar information relevant to this visit are in National Archives and Records Administration, RG 59, S/S Visit Files: Lot 67 D 587, October 1966 to May 1967.
That afternoon Minister of Defense Kim Sung-eun met with Secretary of Defense McNamara at the Pentagon and discussed the equipment needs of the major branches of the Republic of Korea’s armed forces as well as Korean forces in Vietnam.
