U.S. TRADE RELATIONS WITH THE USSR AND EAST EUROPEAN COMMUNIST COUNTRIES

- Discussed the export of the USSR and East European Communist countries of U.S. agricultural equipment and fertilizer production processes.

- Noted the President’s request that the Secretary of Commerce consider what trade assurances or undertakings we could reasonably expect to obtain from the USSR and the European Communist countries in return for licensing advanced agricultural equipment and technology. U.S. firms interested in exports to USSR and East European Communist countries are to be consulted in preparing this study.

- Noted the President’s acceptance of the recommendation that consideration of broad trade negotiations with the USSR should be de-ferred at this time.
