Editorial Note

On August 10, 1950, the Export-Import Bank of Washington approved a credit of $15 million to Yugoslavia to finance the purchase in the United States of materials, machinery, equipment, and services essential to the Yugoslav economy. Yugoslav Ambassador Popović was informed of the action on August 11, but no statement on the matter was issued to the press. An agreement was signed in Washington [Page 1439] formally establishing the $15 million credit. A copy of that agreement was transmitted to the Embassy in Yugoslavia as an enclosure to instruction 22, October 9, to Belgrade, not printed (868.10/10–950).
