1711. Generalissimo has sent word to me repeating request for our assistance in procurement aviation ammunition (Embtel 1629, August [Page 882] 1). He suggests that ammunition be sold and delivered from stocks Western Pacific area, these to be replaced by newly-purchased stocks. Repeated requests through Chinese Embassy, Washington, have failed thus far to bring response.
Please advise nature of reply which should be made to Generalissimo.
