1711. Generalissimo has sent word to me repeating request for our assistance in procurement aviation ammunition (Embtel 1629, August 1). He suggests that ammunition be sold and delivered from stocks Western Pacific area, these to be replaced by newly-purchased stocks. Repeated requests through Chinese Embassy, Washington, have failed thus far to bring response.

Please advise nature of reply which should be made to Generalissimo.
