Editorial Note

In a letter of January 5, 1948, Secretary of Defense Forrestal informed Secretary of State Marshall that on December 31, 1947, the Secretaries of the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force established the Joint United States Military Advisory and Planning Group (Greece) in accordance with recommendations by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He noted that on the same day the Joint Chiefs of Staff designated Major General William G. Livesay as Director of JUSMAPG.
