I. Report of the Deputies.

The Council examined a list prepared by the Deputies of outstanding questions in connection with the Draft Treaty with Italy (C.F.M.(46) 140).¹⁸

The Council heard the report presented by the Chairman of the Deputies.

II. Peace Treaty With Italy (C.F.M.(D) (46) 177).¹⁹

1. United Nations’ Property in Italy. Compensation. Appendix III, Part II, 2.²⁰

No agreement was reached on this matter.

2. Italian Property on Allied and Associated Powers’ Territory (C.F.M.(D) (46)177). Article 71.²¹

The U.S. Delegation proposed the following amendment to its original draft of Article 71:

in para. 1, the phrase “within the limits of its war claims against Italy” to be replaced by the phrase “within the limits of its claims or those of its nationals against Italy or its nationals.”

An agreement in principle was reached on the U.S. proposal as amended.

The article was referred back to the Economic Committee for drafting.

3. General Economic Relations. Expropriation. (Appendix IV, Part II).²²

The Council agreed to delete the clause which formed the subject of Part II.

4. Personal Injuries (Article 66).

The Council agreed to delete this article.

5. Dodecanese (Article 12).

The Soviet Delegation stated that it would table a proposal on this subject.

6. Settlement of Disputes, (Appendix II, Part II, 2²³ and Appendix III, Part II, 3.)

This question to be examined by the Deputies.

7. Franco-Italian Frontier. Rectification No. 4. (Tenda and Briga) (Article 2.)

The examination of this question was adjourned.

III. Future Work of the Council.

1. The Committee on Colonies to meet on Wednesday, 26th June, at 10 a.m.

2. The Deputies to meet on Wednesday, 26th June, at 11:30 a.m. and prepare a list of outstanding questions in connection with the Draft Peace Treaties with Italy, Roumania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Finland.

3. The Council to hold its next meeting on Wednesday, 26th June, at 4 p.m.
