110. Letter From the Director of Central Intelligence (Souers) to the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Hoover)0
Washington, April 19, 1946.
Dear Mr. Hoover: With reference to your letter of April 161 concerning your Special Intelligence Service in the Western Hemisphere, I have been informed at the White House that the President has passed the word to the Congressional committee that it is his desire that this activity be continued by you. I have also been informed by members of the Appropriations Sub-Committee that the item covering these activities will be inserted in your Appropriations Act in an appropriate manner.
This should clear up the confusion which developed.
With all good wishes,
Sincerely,
Sidney W. Souers
