Greek 294. The Greek Government officially left Cairo for Italy yesterday, the Prime Minister and most of the Cabinet leaving by air with the rest to follow in next few days by sea accompanied by subordinate personnel. The Crown Prince Regent17 expects to go next week (Embassy’s 289, September 518).
Before departure the Government issued a declaration which was broadcast to the Greek people and of which a summary is contained in my immediately following telegram.19
