2504. Subject matter Department’s 861, August 6, 8 p.m., and 862, August 6, 9 p.m.18 has been taken up with Foreign Office. Secretary General informed me today that he has authorization from Prime Minister to say that Swedish Government not only has no objection to use of port of Goteborg for purposes planned but will be glad to be of any possible assistance in effecting exchange of wounded war prisoners.
