Your 111, February 15, 4 p.m. Please inform Secretary of Japanese Embassy that message conveyed in your telegram under reference reached me too late, for even while I was reading it I received word that the city of Chengchow had been bombed at least three times on the 14th instant, and that in the course of this bombing premises of Southern Baptist Mission were damaged. You may inform [Page 271] the Secretary of the Japanese Embassy that as soon as I obtain details as to damage done I shall communicate it to him through you.
