I have been in informal communication with the Catette since yesterday on the question of the President’s issuing a press statement in regard to the Government’s alleged Rome-Berlin tendencies, et cetera, et cetera. The President sent me word last night that he would issue this afternoon a statement to the press denying those connections, et cetera, et cetera.
