Your 1336, December 15, 5 p.m. and 1360, December 19, 5 p.m. Before passing upon your recommendation that Stanton and Soule be allowed to return to their respective posts, the Department desires to be informed with regard to the reactions of the Shensi provincial authorities to the further representations made by Stanton in accordance with the instruction contained in the Department’s 390, December 7, 6 p.m. If Stanton is unable to obtain such information at once, please inform Department immediately.
