39. Department’s telegram 41, June 23, 1 p.m. Communicated the substance of said telegram to Foreign Minister today, will instruct Brazilian Ambassador, Washington, to confer with you. Minister is prepared to support fully notes to Bolivia and Paraguay referred to in telegram No. 41.
Foreign Minister has learned that important Bolivian military officers are being sent to Chaco and that one of them who had been assigned to assist in demarcation of Brazilian-Bolivian frontier has been detailed to superintend military operations in that region, also that Argentina has suggested that Bolivia accept a military mission similar to the Argentine military mission in Paraguay, but Chile objects on the score that such missions should not be obtained from countries which are neighbors.
