The Secretary of State to the Ambassador in Germany (Sackett)39
Washington, June 20, 1931—7
p.m.
84. Owing to premature information reaching the press it is necessary for the President to issue a statement for publication tomorrow regarding the proposal to postpone all inter-governmental debts in line with my telegram to you. Please explain this at once to the government.
I am particularly anxious that this should not interfere with the making of a favorable statement by Hindenburg.
