Your 35, March 26, 10 a.m. The Governor of Arica reports that Chilean and Peruvian engineers have examined proposed ports at and north of Escritos; that Chilean engineers made clear that Chile would not under any conditions permit a Peruvian port at the mouth of the River San José; that the engineers representing Peru, [Page 757] who left Arica for Lima this morning, did not indicate the nature of the recommendations which they would make to President Leguia.
