Your 8, January 22, 6 p.m. In view of this delay on the part of Peru please tell President Leguia that I suggest that the work of the Boundary Commission be suspended for two more months, or until April 17, 1929, in order to give time for a possible settlement after President Leguia has received the report of the engineers sent by him to Arica. Please cable immediately his answer. A similar request is being made of Chile.
