1948. War Trade Board, Bureau Enemy Trade [from Stewart]:
No. 2. Referring your No. 163, July 2, to McFadden.1 At his request have conferred with Italian Foreign Office in regard to acceptance by Italy of War Trade Board resolution of April 29, concerning enemy trading license committees. Am now advised that Italy will accept principle of this resolution but acceptance is limited to licenses for trading with listed persons. Italy will submit such applications to proposed committees but will not agree to submit applications for licenses to trade with enemy persons not listed. Stewart.
