Sir: The Department has received your despatches, Nos. 38, 41, 42, 47, and 50, of January 2, January 5, January 7, January 14, and January 18, 1916, respectively,1 in which you report regarding the protection of Mr. Hurst, the former British Vice Consul at Sofia, and in reply informs you that the action taken by you in this matter is approved by the Department.
