Yesterday Minister for Foreign Affairs was interpellated by the Senate as to foreign policy of the Government and notably regarding recognition, appointment of commission and customs control. In the course of the proceedings the Provisional Government8 the Senate rose in a body, denounced Minister for Foreign Affairs, accused him of endeavoring to sell the country to the United States and a concerted attempt was made to [omission] him severe blows. He was [Page 364] rescued through the efforts of Senators and Cabinet Members and under their protection left the Senate amidst the wildest excitement. Minister for Foreign Affairs has since presented his resignation.
