629. Consul, Nuevo Laredo, reports that General Quintana states that he has reported arrest of Cantú to General Tellez, Chief of Division at Monterey, and is unable to release Cantú without orders from Tellez. Consul adds there is no doubt about kidnapping.

Bring to attention of appropriate authorities and renew demand for release of Cantú.
