File No. 812.00/10533.

Consul Edwards to the Secretary of State.

[Telegram.]

Mariscal has entered Acapulco with 300 men asking for money and ammunition. The military commander made forced loans yesterday in order to raise money to pay the former’s troops including the Americans in his demands and threatening that Mariscal would not wait. There is great apprehension of trouble and the garrison is entirely insufficient to afford protection. Embassy advised.
