Sir: Referring to your note of the 28th of September last, relative to the killing of certain Austrian strikers by the sheriff’s posse at Lattimer, Pa., and with regard to the subsequent correspondence on the subject, [Page 61] I have the honor to inform you that the Department has received a telegram from the governor of Pennsylvania, stating that he has received all the reports on the subject except the one from the sheriff of Luzerne County, which is promised within a few days.
